Hey, want to update your Tasmota firmware on your electricity meter? No problem! Here's how you can easily do it yourself. Let's get started!
Step 1: Access the web interface
Connect to your power reader and open the IP address of your ESP32C3 device in your browser. You'll land on the main menu, which looks like this:
-
Tasmota main menu There you have buttons like "Configuration", "Information" and "Firmware Upgrade".
Step 2: Select firmware upgrade
Click on "Firmware Upgrade ." Don't worry, this is the right button to update the firmware.
Step 3: Select firmware
Now you have two options:
-
Upgrade via web server (OTA URL) – ATTENTION: NEVER DO THIS!
-
Upgrade via file upload – That’s exactly what we do!
First, download the appropriate firmware file to your computer (e.g., tasmota32c3.bin
). Click here to download the file. Then click "Choose File" and select the file.
Step 4: Start upgrade
Once you've selected the file, click "Start Upgrade ." The firmware will now be uploaded and installed. This step will take a few seconds.
Step 5: Switch to the Safeboot partition
During the update, you'll see the message "Switching to safeboot partition..." This means your power reader is making sure everything is running correctly. Stay calm and let it do its work.
Step 6: Upload successful
If everything went smoothly, you'll see the message "Upload Successful ." Your stream reader will now restart automatically. Afterward, you can return to the main menu and make sure everything is running smoothly.
